Berlin subways and trams are running according to plan again

by time news

On Monday, February 21, 2022, subways and trams will return to full service. There will also be more bus trips from next week, initially in addition to the currently adjusted intervals published in the timetable information. The BVG announced this on Friday. From Monday, February 28th, the regular timetables will apply again on all bus routes of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe.

The BVG had adjusted the weekly offer in January in two steps by a total of 4.8 percent. Thanks to this adjustment, passengers have been able to rely on regular and plannable mobility with dense intervals in recent weeks, despite increased sick leave and quarantine cases in the Omicron wave.

Rolf Erfurt, Board Member for Operations at BVG: “We are delighted to be able to offer our passengers all trips again. At the same time we would like to thank you for your understanding and serenity. The decision to adjust the clocks on some lines was anything but easy for us. Nevertheless, it was necessary and right, because it has allowed us to be stable and reliable in the past few weeks.”

The normal timetables for the underground and trams that will be valid again from Monday are already stored in the timetable information. In the case of the bus, where the changeover is particularly complex due to the large number of lines and services, the additional journeys in the coming week will not be listed in the timetable information, but will be listed on the Daisy displays. In case of doubt, there is one bus more than expected. The trains on the U5 and U8 lines have been running regularly again since last Monday.
