LONDON, january 7, 2026 – A collaborative project featuring former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Teenage Fanclub frontman Norman Blake, and singer-songwriter James Grant is set to release a new album, ‘Murmurs,’ on March 27. The trio has already shared the first single, ‘Lonely Night,’ offering a taste of their reimagined back catalogs.

Revisiting the Past: Butler, Blake & Grant Announce New Album

The supergroup’s second album features reworked tracks from their individual careers, with one exception penned by a Death Cab for Cutie member.

‘Lonely Night,’ written by blake, first appeared as a bonus track on Teenage Fanclub’s 2010 album, ‘Shadows.’ The track offers a glimpse into the sonic landscape of ‘Murmurs,’ which largely focuses on revisiting and reinterpreting songs from the trio’s past projects.

Of the ten tracks on ‘Murmurs,’ only one originates outside the core group: ‘Me & Magdalena.’ this song was penned by Ben gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie.

The album will be released in limited edition vinyl pressings: a crystal clear first pressing of 350 numbered copies in a green variant sleeve exclusive to the BBG webshop,and a silver vinyl first pressing of 1000 numbered copies available at retail and on the webshop. A CD pack with an insert will also be available.

Butler’s prolific output extends beyond this collaboration. He released ‘Good Grief,’ his first solo studio album in 25 years, in 2024. He also partnered with actor Jessie Buckley on the critically acclaimed album ‘For All Our days That Tear The Heart’ in 2022, which received a nomination for the Mercury Prize.

Buckley,known for her roles in wicked Little Letters and the upcoming film Hamnet,previously shared her experiance working with Butler,stating,”Neither of us really knew each other. That was kind of a blessing in disguise, becuase we just met each other in the moment, trusted each other, and took a leap of faith.
