What MagSafe Accessories Can Do for Your iPhone in 2022
Those who have worked in the Apple ecosystem for a while may remember the term “MagSafe” used years ago to refer to the easily detachable magnetic power cable that comes with Apple products.
Today’s MagSafe is different. The purpose of Apple that Apple included in the iPhone 12 and later is to facilitate faster wireless charging, using a magnetic ring built into the back of the device to connect it to a wireless charger and lock it in place.
This magnetic ring also provides a convenient stand for a variety of other accessories, some of which even charge your device. Apple assures users that MagSafe magnets are protected and can be kept safely in your pocket along with your debit card, but consider tossing your hotel room key next to you.
Since its introduction, many cases and accessories have been made to work with the MagSafe feature in these new iPhones. Some products are better than others, and you should make sure that your accessories include a unique magnetic ring that attaches to the magnets built into your iPhone.
For example, some manufacturers say their cases are “MagSafe compatible,” but that actually means the cases are thin enough to allow the phone’s magnets to contact the charging base. And in these cases you will almost certainly have a weaker hold and risk disconnecting a phone.
Apple’s suite of accessories are designed to work with MagSafe, but there are some powerful third-party options. This list covers both, so let’s get started.

If you want an iPhone case that you know works with MagSafe, you can’t go wrong with an official Apple case.
Apple’s MagSafe-compatible cases come in silicone and leather, both of which come in a variety of colors. The latest case is designed for the iPhone 13, and Apple says it works with all MagSafe accessories and Qi-certified wireless chargers.
The case covers all buttons and edges including the bottom of the phone. The phone’s buttons fit nicely in the pockets designed for them, so there’s no problem clicking the silicone of the case.

Once again, the official product line has been honored with the “best” in Apple’s MagSafe chargers. This charging pad charges your phone at 15 Watts (W) compared to 7.5 Watts or 5 Watts rates for other products, exceeding the overall charging speed. The slim design takes up less space and fits snugly into the MagSafe area on the back of your iPhone for efficient charging.
However, there is one caveat with this charger. is the length of the code. Apple’s MagSafe charger comes with a cord that’s only 3.2 feet long, so unless you have an outlet or extension cable nearby, you don’t plan on attaching your phone to a long charge.
A special mention in this category is the Sonix Magnetic Link wireless charger. It’s about $10 cheaper, charges 10 watts, and has a cord that’s twice as long as the Apple model.

If you are part of the Apple ecosystem, you may have devices like AirPods and Apple Watch. Belkin 3-in-1 Charging Stand lets you charge everything at once. Apple sells this mount on its official store, so you know it’s properly compatible with MagSafe.
The Belkin stand’s aesthetic matches Apple’s stark simplicity. When you wear it, your iPhone feels like it’s on the move, so it looks stylish. It has a split arm for attaching the Apple Watch, and the recess in the base fits AirPods nicely.
The 3-in-1 wireless charger is one of the more expensive products on our list, but if you use it every day, it’s worth the cost.
The Belkin 2-in-1 Stand for iPhones and AirPods gets an honorable mention here. It’s basically the same product, but with less shipping space. So if you don’t have an Apple Watch but love a Belkin stand, this might be for you.

There are many MagSafe-enabled car mounts that can hold your phone in place, but not as many as chargers. The iOttie Velox does both, and while it’s not the fastest charging speed (7.5W), it’s still a lifesaver on the go if you need guidance when your battery is low.
Another feature of this car charger is the included cigarette lighter port adapter. Other options similar to iOttie chargers offer adapters, but not out of the box. If you do not have a car that does not have a built-in USB port, a cigarette lighter adapter will be very useful.
According to early reviews, it has a solid grip even with the case, and is stable even during long car trips. Velox certainly does not disappoint.

Want to shoot TikTok or time-lapse shooting? Unlike other cell phone tripods or stand-alone tripods, you don’t need to hold your phone in a case or have a plastic jaw to secure it.

An honorable mention in this category is the MagSafe tripod from Moment. You can mount your iPhone on almost any photography tripod, but it doesn’t come with legs like the Joby version.
