Directed by Girish A. D. and starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the Malayalam romantic comedy Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has crossed ₹300 crore worldwide following its August 21, 2026 theatrical release, making it one of the highest-grossing films in Malayalam cinema.
The Onam-season release has rewritten box-office benchmarks since hitting cinemas on August 21, 2026. Trade tracking data from Sacnilk shows the romantic comedy accumulated collections from the Kerala box office alone after 34 days in theatres, marking a historic milestone as the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹150 crore gross mark in its home state.
Globally, the film has surpassed ₹324.14 crore, overtaking Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has emerged as a major success in Malayalam cinema, surpassing Lokah and still has a strong hold in theatres. Based on its reported revenues, the movie now occupies the number-one spot on the all-time Malayalam box-office charts, alongside ranking among the top-earning Indian movies launched in 2026.
JioHotstar Streaming Plans and Box Office Delay
Audiences waiting to watch the romantic comedy at home face a delay as the film’s theatrical dominance continues. JioHotstar holds the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film, with initial expectations pointing toward an early October digital premiere. While the streaming rights of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit were acquired by JioHotstar, its digital release was postponed due to its theatrical run and solid hold.
Social media tracking reports indicate that makers are considering pushing the digital release because the film continues to draw crowds to theatres. Although the Bethlehem Kudumba Unit OTT release date is becoming one of the most-awaited Malayalam streaming updates for October 2026, and the film is expected to begin streaming during the first or second week of October, an exact JioHotstar release date is still awaited. This information has not been officially confirmed by the film’s team or JioHotstar.
