US President Joe Biden has unequivocally warned Russia against invading Ukraine. As the American leader told reporters on Saturday, December 11, in Wilmington, Delaware, during a recent online summit, he made it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin that if that happens, Russia will pay a “terrible price.”

Should Putin launch an invasion, the consequences for the Russian economy would be “devastating,” Biden said. At the same time, the President of the United States reiterated that plans to deploy American troops in Ukraine in the event of a Russian attack were not considered in the United States.

Leaders of both countries spoke out about Ukraine during a videoconference last week. The movement of Russian troops near Ukraine’s borders has raised concerns in the West. Russia, for its part, demands guarantees that Ukraine will not be admitted to NATO, citing security considerations.
