For any invasion of troops into the territory of Ukraine, Russia will pay a high price, said US President Joe Biden, reports Reuters.
“Let there be no doubt at all that if Putin makes this choice [в пользу вторжения]Russia will pay a heavy price,” the American leader said. He clarified that the invasion would be the crossing of the Ukrainian border by “any Russian units.”
Biden said his statements on the issue were “extremely clear” and Russian President Vladimir Putin should not have “misunderstood.” The intended US response was also “clearly outlined” to the Russian leader.
Peskov did not rule out a new conversation between Putin and Biden
Earlier, the American president said that the scale of the US reaction to a possible invasion of Ukraine by Russia would depend on the scale of the invasion. If it is “insignificant”, then the US and its allies “will have to argue about what to do and what not to do.” If the invasion is serious, then it “will turn into a catastrophe for Russia,” Biden warned. The White House later clarified that any crossing of the border by the Russian military would be considered an invasion.
