Husband Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Killing Wife in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, Bihar, India – August 9, 2024 – A husband named Arvind Prajapati has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Aurangabad, Bihar, for killing his wife, Pooja Devi. The incident occurred on November 23, 2019.
According to reports, Arvind strangled his 18-year-old wife to death with a towel at an undisclosed location before dumping her body in the Shivpur Western Canal. Local residents spotted the body and informed the police.
The investigation revealed that Arvind had secretly married a second woman after his first marriage to Pooja. Postmortem reports confirmed that Pooja died due to strangulation. The police suspect Arvind deliberately dumped the body in the canal to stage the death as an accident.
The court found Arvind guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 35,000.
The case highlights the tragic breakdown of a love marriage just six months after the couple tied the knot. The incident raises questions about the sanctity of the husband-wife relationship, highlighting the vulnerability of such bonds.
