Social Media Stars Detained in Istanbul Drug Investigation
A forensic report confirming positive drug tests for two prominent social media personalities has ignited a public debate in Turkey, even as one father vehemently defends his son’s innocence. The investigation, led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, centers on Bilal Hancı and İbrahim Barut, both well-known figures in Turkish social media circles.
A report prepared by the ATK (Forensic Medicine Institution) detailed the findings from blood and hair samples collected from the two suspects. According to the report, the results of the drug tests were positive, prompting their detention as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case has drawn significant attention, particularly following a statement released by Nezih Barut, chairman of pharmaceutical company Abdi İbrahim, regarding his son, İbrahim Barut’s, arrest. Speaking to Bosslar Dünyası, Barut expressed disbelief at the allegations.
“My son has nothing to do with drugs. What drugs? He doesn’t even take drugs. He doesn’t even have a cigarette. He is very sensitive about these issues,” Barut stated. He further indicated that the family anticipates his son’s release “today or tomorrow,” adding, “We are very sorry that he has come to the fore for such a reason.”
The investigation remains active, and the legal proceedings are ongoing. The outcome of the case could have significant repercussions for Hancı and Barut, whose online influence reaches a substantial audience. The conflicting accounts – the forensic report versus the father’s staunch denial – underscore the complexities of the situation and the potential for a protracted legal battle.
