Chennai: A hotel owner was beaten to death by a waiter who had written the amount of a non-eating samosa on the bill. The incident took place at a hotel in front of the Madurai K Pudur Govt. Technical Training College. Idli was eaten by a young man named Kannan who came here to eat. However, hotel owner Muthukumar had added that he had eaten samosas on the bill.
After complaining about this, Muthukumar claimed that Kannan had eaten the samosa and was lying. With this, a dispute arose between the two. Meanwhile, Kannan got angry and attacked Muthukumar with a piece of wood kept in the hotel. Muthukumar died instantly. Kannan, who escaped, was later arrested by the police.
Muthukumar’s body was shifted to Madurai Government Hospital for postmortem. Kannan confessed to the police that he had committed the murder out of anger as he had added the amount of uneaten samosa to the bill.
