‘[본 핑크] In Commemoration of the Release of ‘In Cinema’
New album and world tour plans for next year
K-pop icon girl group ‘Blackpink’ has reunited after 11 months to celebrate their 8th debut anniversary.
Blackpink’s Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé attended the ‘Blackpink World Tour’ event at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul on the afternoon of the 9th. [본 핑크] IN CINEMAS (BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] IN CINEMAS) attended the pink carpet event together.
This is the first time that the four members have been working together on official activities since the finale concert of the world tour ‘Born Pink‘ held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul in September last year. The event, which was held to commemorate the release of the ‘Born Pink’ world tour live film on the 31st of last month, caught everyone’s attention as it took place against the backdrop of BLACKPINK’s signature ‘pink’ carpet.
BLACKPINK actively communicated with their fandom BLINK, who were present at the event, by taking selfies with them and maintaining bright expressions the entire time. They celebrated their 8th anniversary the day before with fans by using their fingers and other means to represent the number 8. The members also showed their continued closeness by hugging each other and making hearts together.
Additionally, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa visited the theater in person to give a stage greeting to express their gratitude. The day before, they also held a private autograph session for 88 people.
‘[본 핑크] In Cinemas’ is a film that contains the live footage of the ’Born Pink’ world tour at Gocheok Sky Dome. It will be screened in over 110 countries, including Korea, the US, and the UK, which is the largest number of live footage films ever for a girl group concert.
BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single “SQUARE ONE,” which featured the double title tracks “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH.” In 2022, they topped both the Billboard 200 and Official Albums Chart Top 100 simultaneously with their second full-length album “Bone Pink,” becoming the world’s top girl group.
The only K-pop groups to have topped both charts at the same time are Blackpink and BTS. Also, BTS (27 songs) is the K-pop group with the most songs on Billboard’s main single chart, the Hot 100, followed by Blackpink with 9 songs.
The four members renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, which discovered them late last year, to continue group activities. However, they are pursuing individual activities separately under different agencies. Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa have established independent labels OA Entertainment, Bliss, and Loud, respectively. Rosé is pursuing individual activities through The Black Label, founded by Teddy, a former YG producer. She will release a new album through YG next year and embark on another world tour.
