At-home care provider Blize Healthcare has initiated bankruptcy proceedings, according to court documents. The company, based in Hercules, California, filed a voluntary, non-individual Chapter 11 petition with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. This move allows Blize Healthcare to reorganize its finances while continuing operations.
Financial Strain and Reorganization Efforts
Blize Healthcare provides a range of services including home health care, hospice care, and private duty home care. “Most seniors want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Blize Healthcare services make that possible by bringing palliative, hospice and home care to people where they live,” the company stated on its website. However, the company cited financial distress as the primary reason for the filing, seeking a path to restructure its debts.
Court documents reveal that Blize Healthcare’s estimated assets total between $100,001 and $500,000, while its debts range between $1 million and $10 million. The California Department of Health Care Services, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Itria Ventures are among the listed creditors.
Ownership and Continued Care
The company is owned by two stakeholders, Blessing Elendu and Ukeje Elendu, each holding a 50% share. Ukeje Elendu currently serves as Blize Healthcare’s Chief Executive Officer. Despite the financial challenges, Blize Healthcare has affirmed its commitment to continuing patient care as the bankruptcy case progresses, ensuring continuity of services for those relying on their in-home support.
