BMP robot presented at a defense exhibition in Paris

The Type-X robotic combat vehicle was presented at the Eurosatory defense exhibition in Paris, according to National Defense Magazine.

The machine was developed by two European enterprises of the military-industrial complex. Estonian Milrem Robotics developed the chassis, and Norwegian Kongsberg developed the Protector RT40 turret, which has a 30mm Bushmaster cannon and ammunition feed system.

Reportedly, the chassis was designed from scratch, rather than taken from existing tanks, which made the car lighter, lower, and cheaper, as well as allowing it to work in any weather and temperature. According to manufacturers, one of the wishes of the customer is the cost of an unmanned vehicle, which should not exceed 1/3 of the cost of a conventional tank.

The machine does not fire on its own, but only after receiving a signal from the control panel. Its main task will be to support the main battle tanks, and various weapons systems can be installed on the external module depending on the wishes of the customer – for example, a cannon of up to 50 mm caliber, anti-tank missiles, a drone for continuous reconnaissance. Another option is to equip the machine with dumps for laying the path.

As reported, this machine is one of the stages in the creation of a combat robotic vehicle that would meet the requirements of European countries, and would also be in demand in the United States.
