Bellefontaine Robotics Teams Dominate North Union Qualifier, Advance to State Competition

Bellefontaine Middle School’s VEX Robotics teams achieved significant success at the North Union Middle School Qualifier, with one team claiming the championship title and multiple squads demonstrating impressive skill and teamwork. The strong performance underscores the growing prominence of STEM education within the Bellefontaine school system.
“Banana Boys” Secure Tournament Victory
Team 9185B, affectionately known as the “Banana Boys,” emerged as Tournament Champions after a determined run through the competition bracket. They forged a winning alliance with ZMS Robotics from Zanesville Middle School, a partnership that propelled both teams to qualify for the prestigious Ohio State VEX Robotics Competition this spring. The team’s success is a testament to the dedication of its members: Colson Garver, Beau Gibson, Beckett Kesler, Jackson Lynch, and Jackson Maus.
“Picklebots” Showcase Competitive Spirit
Team 9185F, the “Picklebots,” also delivered a standout performance, compiling a remarkable 5-1 record during the qualifying rounds. Despite a narrow defeat in the semifinals, the Picklebots – comprised of Owen Smith, Zane Chiles, and Jayden Lambert – showcased their competitive edge and technical prowess. Their advancement to the semifinals highlights the depth of talent within the Bellefontaine Robotics program.
Broad Participation and Future Competition
Beyond the top-performing teams, Bellefontaine was represented by additional squads – 9185D, 9185N, 9185S, and 9185Y – all of whom contributed to a positive and enriching experience. According to reports, all participating students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Bellefontaine Robotics will next compete on Saturday, November 15th, hosting the “King of the Hill” event at Bellefontaine Middle School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event promises to be another exciting showcase of the students’ engineering skills and collaborative spirit.
