BMW M GmbH Achieves Record-Breaking 2025 Sales, Driven by Hybrid Performance and Motorsport Success

Munich – BMW M GmbH has announced its 14th consecutive year of record sales, solidifying its position as a leader in high-performance vehicles. In 2025, the company delivered 213,457 vehicles, a three percent increase over the previous year’s already impressive total of 206,582 units. This success is attributed to a diverse model range, a commitment to both conventional and electric powertrains, and continued dominance in key global markets.

“Our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy,” stated a senior official at BMW M GmbH. “We will continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the entire BMW model range, with fully electric, partly electric and all-ICE powertrains.”

High-Performance Executive Models Fuel Growth

The success of BMW M GmbH in 2025 was notably driven by its high-performance executive models, seamlessly blending racetrack capability with everyday usability. The BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring experienced notable sales increases in their first full year on the market, becoming key contributors to the company’s overall success. Both vehicles feature the M HYBRID system, delivering a peak output of 535 kW/727 hp and a maximum system torque of 1,000 Nm, combining a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor.

The BMW M5 Touring’s appeal was further underscored by receiving the prestigious “Golden Steering Wheel” award from Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag. The model achieved the highest points score among all finalists, impressing judges with its driving dynamics, efficiency, and value.

M2 Coupé Leads Growth in Core Segment

The BMW M2 Coupé was also a key driver of growth globally was a BMW M model, representing a record share of 9.8 percent, up from 9.4 percent the previous year. BMW M vehicles are particularly popular in Switzerland, where nearly one in four BMWs ordered is an M model.

The company also experienced significant growth in key markets, including the U.S.(over 72,000 units sold), Canada, Germany, Korea, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Notably, China saw the largest absolute sales increase for BMW M GmbH.

Future Focused: Neue Klasse and Motorsport Commitment

BMW M GmbH’s continued success is underpinned by its commitment to innovation and a complete model portfolio encompassing ICE, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric vehicles. The upcoming development of models based on the Neue Klasse platform is expected to further accelerate growth.

“Our strategy of being open towards new technologies once again paid off in 2025,” said Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales at BMW M GmbH. “BMW M GmbH stands for optimal performance, independently of the powertrain type. In all markets and across all vehicle classes. Customers looking for a performance or high-performance vehicle will always find it at BMW M GmbH.”

Motorsport remains a vital component of the BMW M GmbH brand. In 2025, BMW M Motorsport race cars – the BMW M Hybrid V8, BMW M4 GT3 EVO, and BMW M4 GT4 EVO – collectively achieved over 180 victories. Highlights included a 1-2 finish at Road America in the FIA WEC season and numerous triumphs for the M4 GT3 EVO and M4 GT4 EVO in races around the globe, including the Nürburgring 24 hours and the Bathurst 12 Hour race. The success of the M4 GT4 EVO contributed to BMW M Motorsport securing the SRO manufacturers’ title in the GT4 segment. The company is also preparing for the 2026 season with the introduction of the BMW M2 Racing as a new entry-level vehicle for customer racing.
