BMW presents new monster SUV with a length of 5 meters and 750 hp

by time news

SUVs are controversial anyway: Critics say they are too big, too bulky, too resource-hungry in consumption – and anyway: In many of the big cars only the driver sits inside. In this environment, BMW has now produced a vehicle with the new XM, which will probably again cause a lot of criticism.

The BMW XM is manufactured by M GmbH, BMW’s in-house tuner. Normally, the dynamic experts from Garching sharpen the always sporty BMW models with all sorts of technical extras, beefy design and engine power. It’s different with the XM: On the occasion of the tuner’s 50th birthday, the company has produced a complete vehicle – the first of its own since the unforgettable BMW M1.

With the BMW XM, M GmbH is not stingy with records either: the crossover with plug-in hybrid drive is the most expensive model from BMW – at least in terms of the basic price. Stately 170,000 euros are due for the sports crossover, the length of 5.11 meters also speaks for itself.

BMW XM: Up to 748 hp and 290 km/top

The performance figures are also striking: even the “normal” BMW XM delivers a slim 480 kW / 653 hp / 800 Nm (combined from an eight-cylinder with a displacement of 4.4 liters and 360 kW / 489 hp and an electric motor with 145 kW / 197 hp) . Impressive for an SUV: It accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and is only electronically locked at a speed of 270 km/h.

From autumn 2023, the BMW XM will be even more powerful as a “Red Label Edition”, which will then even deliver 550 kW / 748 hp and 1,000 Nm maximum torque. The top speed is said to be 290 km/h.

In Europe, the mighty powerhouse will probably not play a major role, but in the United Arab Emirates, the USA and Asia, many customers are already pawing their hooves to have an alternative to the Lamborghini Urus or the Ferrari Purosangue, which is also new.
