About this says in the message of Rosstandart. The reason for this is possible problems with the airbags for the driver and front passenger. This is the second recall of BMW cars in Russia since the beginning of the year.
“As a result of years of aging, the driver’s airbag inflator and the front passenger’s airbag inflator can fail. If the airbag is deployed during an accident, the gas generator may develop too much internal pressure. Under adverse circumstances, the gas generator may explode and its metal parts may cause injury,” the reason for the recall is explained.
On all these vehicles, the airbags for the driver and front passenger will be replaced. Owners of affected vehicles will be informed to take the vehicle to the nearest dealership for repairs. Also, owners have the opportunity to independently determine whether their car is subject to recall. All work will be carried out free of charge for owners.
At the end of April, BMW Rusland Trading recalled 4,736 cars also to replace the driver’s airbags.
At that time, cars assembled from January 2015 to January 2016 fell under the recall campaign.
