Russian Ambassador to Dhaka Alexander Vikentievich Mantitsky held a meeting with the BNP delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. It is said that the current political, economic, commercial, bilateral overall issues of the country were discussed in the meeting.
An hour-long meeting was held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday (August 29).
After the meeting, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury told reporters that there were discussions on trade, investment, scientific, energy and cultural cooperation between the two countries. They want to know what we are thinking about the current situation and the future of this crisis.
He said, it has been clearly stated by us that BNP believes in relations with everyone. We do not see any particular country or anyone separately. There will be relations with all countries and the people of Bangladesh will have relations with the people of Russia. The two countries will have relations. Cooperation in various fields, including trade, was discussed between the two sides.
Amir Khosru said that the issue of cooperation with Russia in tourism sector has been discussed, Russia is a big country. There are opportunities for tourism. In this regard, they also want to open an office here. Wants to branch the bank in the future. We welcome their initiative.
Khosru said, we have talked about their cooperation to create a place for Bangladeshi products in Russia in the future. So overall the relationship between the two countries will be taken forward, as we are doing with other countries.
Amir Khosru said, besides, they wanted to know about the current context of Bangladesh, elections etc. We have already clarified our position. We have said that as soon as the power can be transferred to the elected government through elections under the interim government.

They asked for time frame, we didn’t say any time frame. As we have said, we give full support to this interim government and its activities. The reforms that will be discussed should be reformed as soon as possible and fair elections should be held at a fixed time.
He said, naturally everyone wants to know the position of today, wants to know the position of tomorrow. These issues have been discussed in detail. They want to know whether the relationship that exists today will exist in the future or not. As we said, there will be a perfect relationship. Our relations will go forward, with all countries. We do not selectively see any country as before or after.
Finally, this leader of BNP said that the foreign policy of BNP is that we should take advantage of the comparative advantages that exist between the two countries by maintaining good relations with everyone. Where there are comparative advantages in Bangladesh, we want to take advantage of them. We have said that the relationship between the two countries should be mutually beneficial. There should be respect for each other, mutual respect, mutual benefit. These issues came up in our discussion. In that case, where Bangladesh has potential in Russia, if Russia has potential here, the relationship will be developed by protecting the interests of Bangladesh and protecting the interests of the people of Bangladesh. We will have that relationship with Russia.
