The first incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, on the D.62A road in Grau-du-Roi. Firefighters arrived to find a single car overturned. The driver, a 67-year-old man, was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite the best efforts of rescuers and a medical team from SMUR Lunel, the man could not be revived.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by the gendarmerie.
Just hours later, around 6 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, Gard firefighters were called to Barjac, near the border with Ardèche, for a different type of road hazard. A 23-year-old man driving on the D.979 struck a wild boar that had entered the roadway.

A medical team from the SMUR of alès provided support, alongside gendarmes and road service personnel who secured the scene.
