/ Media reports reported, on Wednesday, that the Houthis targeted a ship in the Red Sea, while a source close to Iran said that the Revolutionary Guard was behind the targeting of two Israeli ships earlier in the Indian Ocean.

An American official told Al Jazeera, “A commercial ship owned by an American company was attacked from areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.”

For its part, Al-Mayadeen Channel, which is close to Iran and Hezbollah, quoted a private source as saying, “The Revolutionary Guard in Iran is the one behind the targeting of the two Israeli ships in the Indian Ocean on the fourth of this month of January.”

The source added, “The Revolutionary Guards’ targeting of the two Israeli ships came in the context of responding to the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Saleh Al-Arouri, and the Iranian military advisor in Syria, Brigadier General Radhi Mousavi.”

He explained, “One of the two ships was targeted northwest of the Maldives, while the second was targeted 200 miles from Veraval, India.”

The source confirmed that “this unexpected Iranian strike on Israel came in response to the assassination of leaders in the axis of resistance,” noting that “no party claimed responsibility for the operation at the time, nor did any official party claim responsibility for it, directly or indirectly.”
