Bonzi will challenge Tsitsipas in the second round in Monte-Carlo

Benjamin Bonzi, 48th in the world, qualified for the second round of the Masers 1000 in Monte-Carlo on Monday by dominating Spaniard Bernabe Zapata (41st) 6-1, 7-5. In the next round, the 26-year-old Frenchman will face double title holder Stefanos Tsitsipas (3rd).

Bonzi is one of only three Tricolores in the main draw of the first major clay-court tournament of the season. Richard Gasquet (43rd) will face this Monday at the end of the program the Austrian Dominic Thiem (106th) and Ugo Humbert (79th), who got out of qualifying on Sunday, will play against the Italian Lorenzo Sonego (45th) on Tuesday.
