Bordeaux New Year’s Eve: Tram and Bus Disruptions Anticipated for Security Reasons

A modified public transportation plan will be in effect for New Year’s Eve in Bordeaux, with tram and bus services operating with adjusted schedules and routes to preempt potential security incidents. Keolis, the operator of the TBM network, announced that while tram lines will run all night, service will be intermittently suspended at various stations and in certain neighborhoods beginning at 11 p.m. on December 31, 2025.

The adjustments, according to a company release, are a proactive measure to address areas identified as potential hotspots for disturbances, including possible damage or fires. “The transport plan will be adapted from time to time for ‘security reasons,’” a senior official stated.

Here’s a breakdown of the anticipated disruptions, line by line:

Tram Disruptions: A Line-by-Line Guide

Tram A: Will operate continuously from “Haillan Rostand” to “Buttinière.” However, from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., service will be suspended between “Buttinière” and “Gardette/Bassens/Carbon Blanc.” No replacement bus service will be provided during this time.

Tram B: Will run all night between “La Cité du vin” and “Pessac Centre/Alouette.” From 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., service will be interrupted between “Cité du Vin” and “Berges de la Garonne.” Passengers will not have access to a substitute bus during this period.

Tram C: From 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., service will be suspended between “Quinconces Fleuve” and “Parc des Expositions,” with a replacement bus operating as a tram relay. Additionally, from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., service will be halted between “Gare St-Jean” and “Villenave Pyrénées.” No substitute bus will be available, but passengers are advised to utilize Lianes 5, 15, or 35 for alternative transportation until 2 a.m.

Tram D: Will maintain all-night service from “Gare St-Jean” to “Mairie du Bouscat.” However, from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., service will be suspended between “Gare St-Jean” and “Carle Vernet.” No replacement bus will be offered.

Tram E: Will operate continuously between “Quinconces” and “Cenon Gare.” Service will be interrupted from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. between “Quinconces” and “Gare de Blanquefort,” with a replacement bus in tram relay. Another interruption will occur from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. between “Cenon La Morlette” and “Floirac Dravemont.” An extended interruption, from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., will also affect service to Cenon Gare. No substitution bus will be available.

Tram F: Will run all night from “Gare St-Jean” to “Airport.” From 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., service will be suspended between “Gare St-Jean” and “Gare de Bègles.” Passengers can consider transferring to Lianes 5, 15, or 35, with service available until 2 a.m., as an alternative.

Extended Bus Service and Diversions

Beyond the tram disruptions, the bus network will also see adjustments. Lianes 5, 15, and 35 will operate until 2 a.m., while other Lianes lines and line 26 will run until 1 a.m. The Flex’Night and TBNight lines will provide all-night service. Several bus lines will also implement diversions starting at 6 p.m. to avoid potentially problematic sectors.

On Thursday, January 1, 2026, the entire TBM network will operate on a Sunday schedule. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time.

These measures reflect a heightened state of preparedness as Bordeaux prepares to welcome the New Year, prioritizing public safety alongside continued transportation access.
