Bordeaux’s Innovative Spirit Earns Top Honors at Territoria 2025 Prize

The City of Bordeaux has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, securing four awards at the prestigious Territoria 2025 Prize. A total of 50 communities were honored, with 17 receiving Gold, 17 Silver, and 16 Bronze distinctions, judged on criteria of innovation, replicability, and responsible public spending.
The Territoria Prize jury evaluated winning initiatives based on three essential criteria: innovation, the potential for replication in other communities, and the responsible use of public funds.This year’s awards highlighted projects focused on artificial intelligence, natural resource preservation, and strengthening social connections.
La Ressourcerie: A Model for Cultural Sustainability
The Municipal Cultural Ressourcerie project earned a Territoria Argent prize in the Environmental Issues category, sponsored by MACIF. This initiative functions as a highly organized reception and distribution center for reusable materials. To date, the Ressourcerie has collected ten tonnes (100 m3) of material, with 25% already repurposed for projects like the Itineraries of Traveling Photographers in April 2024.
Supporting Students with Eco-Pleasant Back-to-School Kits
Recognizing the financial strain of the school year, Bordeaux launched an eco-responsible back-to-school kit initiative. this project received a Territoria Bronze prize for its support of children and adolescents, sponsored by UNICEF. created in 2024 and refined in 2025 based on feedback from educators and parents, the kit provides an estimated savings of 50 euros per student. Prioritizing Child Welfare through Enhanced training
Bordeaux’s commitment to its youngest citizens extends beyond financial support. Training programs designed to improve how adults respond to children’s disclosures of abuse or sensitive issues have also been lauded. This initiative received a Territoria Argent prize in the Human Resources category, sponsored by Éditions WEKA. the project, a collaborative effort between School Health, the Directorate of Education, National Education, psychologists, school directors, the National Gendarmerie, and the Department, aims to foster a more supportive and responsive surroundings for children.
Combating Misinformation with Student-Led initiative
Addressing the challenges of fake news, the project “Fake news… Let’s talk about it!” was awarded a Territoria Argent prize in the Prevention category, sponsored by the MNFCT. On February 7th, students from the North and South districts of Bordeaux presented a comedy at the Grand-Parc village hall, exploring the complexities of media literacy in an innovative television set format.
