BRUSSELS, 8 Ene. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, discussed this Monday with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, the need to work towards a two-state solution to achieve peace between Israelis. and Palestinians.

“The road will be difficult, but there is no alternative,” Borrell stressed on his social network account

Borrell, who has invited the Saudi minister to participate in the meeting of foreign ministers on January 22, is immersed in what is now his fourth tour of the region since the Hamas attacks of October 7, which triggered an offensive Israeli military over the Gaza Strip.

The head of European diplomacy has warned that there is a “real risk” of an escalation of tensions at the regional level, which is why he has opted for coordination with Arab countries to avoid this.

Likewise, and with a view to stopping the “human tragedy” in the Gaza Strip, where more than 23,000 people have already died, Borrell has called for an “immediate” humanitarian ceasefire that allows a “more sustainable” truce and the release of all the hostages still in the hands of the Palestinian militias.
