jpnn.comJAKARTA – Atletico Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium, Thursday morning WIB.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone asked his team not to underestimate Borussia Dortmund.

Simeone, who wants to bring Atletico through to the Champions League semifinals for the first time since 2017, said that Dortmund is a team that is difficult to beat even though they are currently only ranked fifth in the Bundesliga standings.

“Borussia Dortmund is the toughest opponent,” said Simeone at a press conference as reported by AFP, Tuesday (9/4).

“They are good and quality. “They haven’t lost away from home in four months and they’re great on the counter-attack,” Simeone said.

Dortmund, who won the Champions League in 1997, last tasted the semifinals in 2013, then lost to Bayern Munich in the final.

On the other hand, Simeone has never led Atletico to win the Champions League with their highest position being reaching the final in 2014 and 2016, but being defeated by Real Madrid.

For this reason, Atletico defender Axel Witsel stated that he did not want to think about qualifying for the final, but was only focused on the match against Dortmund.
