The price of bottled soybean oil has been increased by Rs 4 per litre. The Ministry of Commerce has taken this decision in a meeting with the Tariff Commission, Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association.
Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu gave this information to reporters at the secretariat on Thursday (April 18).
The Minister of State for Commerce said that the price of a liter of soybean oil has been increased from Tk 163 to Tk 167. A liter of open soybean oil has been increased from Tk 149 to Tk 147. This price will be effective from Friday.
Earlier, last Monday, Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association proposed to increase the price of soybean oil by Tk 10 to 173 per liter.
In this regard, the letter written to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce said, ‘For your kind information, the period of SRO issued on February 7, 2024 for the import and production of raw materials of edible oil will expire on April 15, 2024, hence from April 16, 2024. Supply of edible oil (Refined Palm Oil and Refined Soybean Oil) to the market will be provided at pre-VAT Exemption price.
In the letter, the price of one liter of bottled soybean oil is Rs 173, Rs 845 for five liters and Rs 132 for open palm oil from April 16.
