The history of cricket is shrouded in nobility. Compared to that, the history of the rise of cricketers is not wrapped in glitter. A large number of international cricketers have come up fighting for life and livelihood. Shikhar was able to reach the top by running after success despite falling on his face while running towards the goal. One such person is Usman Khan of the Pakistan national team.

Usman Khan’s name really comes up in front of the eyes in various domestic franchise leagues with the fountain of runs with the bat. That Usman will run fountains for the national team. Usman, who was called up to the Pakistan team for the first time, is a fairy tale. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the story of the struggling Usman who was called up to the New Zealand series team.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan. It was my childhood dream to play for my country. But chasing a dream with great financial hardship is a luxury. Even he was looking for an opportunity in Pakistan’s domestic cricket, but he got neglected. With financial distress and heartache, Usman migrated to the Middle East. The worker took a job in a gas marketing company in the United Arab Emirates.

Even in exile, Usman started chasing his dreams. After working all day, he continued to play in various amateur tournaments in the United Arab Emirates. And in this case, the owner of his company appeared as a savior. With his support, Usman gradually gained fame, eventually getting a chance in the Abu Dhabi T-Ten League. Participated there as a local cricketer.

Usman said in PCB’s video, ‘My brother played first class cricket for Karachi Port Trust. I used to follow him, go to practice with him. I used to dream that I would play cricket and become a big player. Lived in a complex early in my career and my focus was cricket.’

But luck was not so helpful. Struggling to support his family, he moved to the United Arab Emirates, where he gained fame in cricket while still a laborer. Usman continued to say, ‘I continued cricket by working as a laborer at Ajman Gas. The owner of our establishment supported it, so we were able to win trophies in several local tournaments.’

After that, Usman’s life began to change. And that is thanks to the jeweled eyes of Zimbabwean legendary cricketer Andy Flower. Usman kept floating in memory, ‘Andy Flower saw me in 2022 while playing T-Ten. Based on the performance there, I got a chance as a local cricketer in 2023 PSL. After scoring a century in the BPL, I realized that I am slowly rising to the top.

Despite all this, Usman, who was lying in the sky, could not see the light. Despite doing well in BPL, PSL, T-Ten league, he established himself as a cricketer of the United Arab Emirates as he did not get the attention of the Pakistan national team. After that, in the Pakistan league, he got the attention of the selectors with an eye-catching performance, got a chance in the Pakistan team, Usman’s dream came true. In return, the relationship with the United Arab Emirates is severed!

Still, Usman has no regrets. The dream that he weaved from a small town of Karachi, that dream has come a long way in Karachi itself. He is wearing a green jersey. Now all that awaits is the run-fourer with the bat, the dream that Usman saw in the intense glare of the scorching sun of the Middle East.
