Manila: India has handed over the first batch of supersonic cruise missile BrahMos to the Philippines. With the help of C-17 Globemaster transport plane from India, these missiles have been transported to the airport in the Philippines. This entire deal is worth 37 crore 50 lakh dollars. India has given this BrahMos missile to its friend Philippines at a time when its tension with China is at its peak. The Philippines Navy is conducting the most expensive military exercise with America. Philippines has purchased this missile from India to check China’s growing assertiveness in the South China Sea. BrahMos is called India’s Brahmastra which has been made in collaboration with Russia. BrahMos has the title of the world’s fastest attack cruise missile. This missile has now been loaded on a C-17 aircraft from Nagpur, India and transported to the Philippines. Along with this missile, there were three more aircraft which were also loaded with additional material. It is believed that with the induction of BrahMos, the Philippines’ firepower against China will increase manifold. There was an agreement between India and Philippines regarding this missile in January 2022. This deal is being considered a major success in the direction of India’s defense exports.
Increasing tension between China and Philippines
BrahMos missile has been jointly developed by India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPO. Today, 85 percent of this missile is being made in India. This reflects India’s self-reliance and indigenous defense production. With this, India has left a big mark in the world arms market. That too when India is under tension with China. China is showing evil eye to both India and Philippines. Recently China has stopped the Philippines from visiting an island. There is tension between both regarding the ownership of this island.
India successfully tests BrahMos missile
Not only this, recently America has also deployed its air defense system in the Philippines which is quite powerful. America has started building its military bases on several islands of the Philippines so that in case of war over Taiwan, a strong counter-attack can be launched. At the same time, the Chinese army is continuously engaged in intimidating the Philippines. This is the reason why the Philippines government has purchased BrahMos missile from India which has the power to sink Chinese warships. Indian Navy is also building a huge stockpile of BrahMos missiles.
