The Central Military Hospital SNP Ružomberok – Faculty Hospital and Faculty Hospital AGEL Košice-Šaca emerged as champions in their respective categories, according to data released at the beginning of 2026.

A new report from INEKO sheds light on the performance of hospitals across Slovakia, revealing surprising results and highlighting areas for advancement.

The INEKO institute, which specializes in statistical data, published its ranking of Slovak hospitals at the start of 2026. The assessment considered multiple sectors for each hospital, providing a extensive overview of their performance over a four-year period.
Two Distinct Categories
The ranking divides hospitals into two groups: “big hospitals” and “small to medium-sized hospitals.” “Big hospitals” are defined as terminal hospitals with state funding, handling the most complex cases and boasting the highest numbers of hospitalizations, beds, and revenue. Specialized facilities like children’s hospitals, cardiology institutes, and oncology centers were excluded from this category.

Small to medium-sized hospitals, on the other hand, provide comprehensive healthcare but aren’t designated as regional terminal hospitals. Their founders can be private individuals, cities, the state, or religious organizations.

While Bratislava isn’t represented in the top five large hospitals, it excels in “operating experience of doctors.” In the smaller hospital category, Nemocnica Bory secured second place and leads in “patient satisfaction.” More detailed results are available on the INEKO website: INEKO.
