Braylon Frantz Ascends to St. Clair Basketball Legend with Record-Breaking Performance

A seemingly routine first-quarter free throw on Tuesday, January 8, 2026, proved to be anything but, cementing Braylon Frantz‘s legacy as the all-time leading scorer in St. Clair High School boys basketball history. The senior guard reached the milestone with 1,589 career points during a 67-43 victory over St. Clair Shores Lake Shore.

The moment, occurring at the 3:36 mark of the first period, was met with jubilation. “It feels great,” Frantz said, adding his gratitude for the unwavering support of his teammates. “My teammates were helping me out through the way, so I can’t thank them enough.”

A Testament to Dedication and Skill

The achievement is a direct result of Frantz’s tireless work ethic and high basketball IQ, according to St. Clair coach Paul Morgan. “He deserves it,” Morgan stated. “I see the work he puts in… he has a high IQ for the game. You can see it on the court. His vision is good. He recognizes when he can shoot it, when he can drive it or when he can pass it. he makes his teammates better – he makes the whole program better.”

Frantz finished the game with 25 points, showcasing the multifaceted skillset that has defined his career. He entered the contest tied with Ben Davidson, a 2018 St. Clair graduate, for the program’s scoring record.

Passing the torch

The meaning of surpassing Davidson wasn’t lost on Frantz, who acknowledged the former guard’s mentorship. “Ben has been helping me out as I was younger,” Frantz explained.”it’s really cool to surpass him, with the leader he is. I look up to him a lot.”

davidson echoed those sentiments, expressing his happiness for Frantz’s accomplishment. “I’m super happy for (Frantz),” Davidson said. “I really wanted him to get it… he’s a really good kid. He’s put a bunch of time (into his game) and has earned the No. 1 spot (on the scoring list). There’s no mistake why he’s here.”

A Family Affair and Community support

The party continued after the game, with family and friends joining in to congratulate Frantz. A particularly poignant moment came with an embrace from his father, Michael Frantz, a 2002 St. Clair graduate who previously held the school’s scoring record.
