Denmark’s veteran goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel completed 100 international matches in the 0-0 draw against Switzerland in Parken on Saturday. Endrick was the match winner for Brazil against England.
Endrick is only 17 years old and played his third international match on Saturday. The Palmeiras player, who will join Real Madrid in the summer, headed home a pass from his future club-mate Vinicius Junior. He cheered wildly for his first national team goal.
Schmeichel completed 100 caps in Denmark’s draw against Switzerland. With that, he follows in his father Peter’s footsteps, who stopped at 129 international matches.
On Saturday, Schmeichel became the eleventh player to reach a three-figure number of games for Denmark’s men’s national team. Simon Kjær has the most of all, who played his 131st international match on Saturday.
Goalkeeper injury
Switzerland had to replace their last defender Yann Sommer after just over half an hour of play. The Inter goalkeeper appeared to have trouble with his foot and was replaced by Yvon Mvogo.
Neither team managed to put the ball in the goal in the match.
Denmark will play the European Championship this summer, where they have England, Serbia and Slovenia in the pool. On Tuesday, the Faroe Islands await in another warm-up match.
In June, the Danes welcome Ståle Solbakken’s Norwegian national team for test matches before the European Championship departure. Then Sweden will also compete with the Danes.
Prodigy
England also began their international season on Saturday with a home match against Brazil. At Wembley it was an evenly played affair with both teams creating chances.
Real Madrid’s attacking duo of Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior were active as usual for Brazil, but could not unseat England’s defense until 17-year-old Endrick was substituted after 70 minutes. He took ten minutes to become the match winner.
In England’s attack, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins got the chance in Harry Kane’s absence. The Bayern Munich attacker is struggling with his ankle and had to miss the meeting.
With a quarter of an hour remaining, Manchester United’s midfield talent Mainoo made his debut when he was substituted for Conor Gallagher.
England face Belgium on Tuesday. On Saturday, the Belgians played 0-0 against Ireland in Dublin.
