Brazilian Gui Santos, a forward for the Golden State Warriors, stood out in the franchise’s victory this Monday against the Brooklyn Nets 109-98 in the NBA, in a match held at the Barclays Center, in New York.
The 22-year-old finished the game with nine points (his league record), five rebounds, two blocks and the biggest plus-minus on the team, with 13 (the difference in points his team and the opponent scored while he was on the court ).
His performance was praised by coach Steve Kerr.
“Gui Santos was incredible. He threw himself onto the court to recover possessions, grabbing offensive rebounds and generating more extra possessions,” said the coach after the match.

The commander trusted Gui Santos to finish the match, even leaving Klay Thompson on the bench. The shooting guard, despite regretting having ended up off the court, praised the Brazilian’s game.
“A lot of spirit, he gave his all. I’m happy for Gui, he’s incredible. He was in the G-League, he came and had a big impact,” he said. When asked about finishing the game on the bench, Klay responded, “I was one of the best players in the NBA… It’s hard for anyone, to be quite honest.”
Star Stephen Curry also mentioned the Brazilian when talking about the team’s defensive performance in the game.
“Our defense was good. Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, Gui Santos, we obviously know what Draymond does every night. Everyone took responsibility and contributed,” he declared.
His teammate Brandin Podziemski said that the athlete was decisive in the score of the match. “He’s the reason we won the game,” he said.
The Warriors occupy 12th place in the Western Conference and take the court again this Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, at 9:30 pm, at the Wells Fargo Center.
