Breakdowns on Teams or Outlook: access to several Microsoft services disrupted

by time news

Several Microsoft services, including the Teams collaborative work tool or Outlook messaging, were unavailable worldwide this Wednesday morning due to outages still under investigation, the American group said on Twitter.

“We are investigating issues that affect multiple Microsoft 365 services,” one of Microsoft’s service accounts wrote on Twitter at 07:31 GMT (8:31 a.m. Paris). A little later, Microsoft added that it had “identified a potential network issue and are reviewing telemetry to determine next troubleshooting steps.”

And on the social network, many users around the world complained that they could not access their usual tools. Microsoft Teams is used by more than 280 million people worldwide and is an integral part of daily operations for businesses and schools who use the service to make calls, schedule meetings and organize their workflow. Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business are also among the affected services, according to the company’s status page.

“I have an assignment due in half an hour on Teams and the servers are not working in India. Please do something,” one user wrote.

On the specialized site Downdetector, incidents were reported in the United States and Europe for several other services belonging to Microsoft, from the Xbox Live gaming platform to the LinkedIn social network. Contacted, the group did not respond to requests from AFP on Wednesday.

The computer giant announced in mid-January that it would lay off around 10,000 employees by the end of March (just under 5% of its workforce), citing economic conditions and changing priorities of its customers, and shaking a little more a sector already affected by several major social plans.
