Before 19 minutes had been played in Villarreal’s home meeting with Granada on Sunday afternoon, Alexander Sørloth had scored two goals.
The Norwegian national team striker first put in a rebound to make it 1-0, before he doubled the lead when he headed in a post at the back post.
In the second half, Sørloth headed in 5-0 from a corner kick. It was his first hat trick in LaLiga.
Alexander Sørloth now has the most LaLiga goals in this calendar year. No one can match Trønder’s six all-rounders in 2024.

Norway’s national team manager Ståle Solbakken is happy about Sørloth’s success.
– He has actually been in a more difficult period where he has started on the bench the last few games before this one, so it is gratifying with this game and hopefully a step towards consolidation, says Solbakken to TV 2.
Solbakken, Sørloth and Norway will play in private national matches broadcast on TV 2 against the Czech Republic and Slovakia later this month.

– Alex has always performed well for us, so it will be good this time too, says Solbakken.
In total, Sørloth has twelve goals in LaLiga this season. That’s as many as Barcelona’s super striker Robert Lewandowski.
Only Jude Bellingham (16), Borja Mayoral (15), Artem Dovbyk (14), Ante Budimir (13) and Álvaro Morata (13) have more LaLiga goals.
Villarreal won the match against Granada 5-1. The yellow submarine is number twelve in LaLiga. Granada is relegated with ten points up to safe ground.
