Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling bring Ken and Barbie to life. The trailer promises over-the-top fun in a pink world.
Bright colors, many stars: Hollywood star Margot Robbie (32) struts through the new trailer of the movie “Barbie” in the role of the world-famous Barbie doll on pink heels. At her side, Ryan Gosling (42) with platinum blonde hair and bright yellow roller skates acts as “Ken”.
Other roles in the plastic world of dolls include Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon and Dua Lipa.
A good three months before the planned theatrical release (mid-July), the Warner Bros. studio put the trailer online on Tuesday. The story suggests that Ken and Barbie will be transported from their perfect pink Barbieland to the “real world”.
A toy company and Warner Bros. announced the project with Australian Robbie (“Babylon”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”) in 2019. The Barbie doll has previously appeared in animated films, but not in a feature-length film with real actors.
Directed by Greta Gerwig (39, “Little Women”, “Lady Bird”), who also wrote the screenplay together with her husband Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story”). (dpa)
