Legendary British rock band Oasis, who are reuniting after 15 years, are expected to make over 700 billion won in sales from their live tour next year. Oasis has announced a 14-date UK tour, and if it expands to a European tour, the total sales could more than double.

The Guardian, a British daily newspaper, reported on the 27th (local time) citing an analysis by Birmingham City University that the sales of Oasis’ planned UK and Ireland tour next year could reach 400 million pounds (about 707.9 billion won). According to experts, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, the two pillars of Oasis, are expected to earn 50 million pounds (about 88.5 billion won) each from just 14 UK concerts.

Oasis, which started as a four-member band in 1991, produced many hit songs including “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” but disbanded in 2009 due to feud between the Gallagher brothers. Over the past 15 years, there have been constant rumors among rock fans about a reunion, but they have always ended up as mere rumors.

Meanwhile, the day before, news of the group’s reunion and the tour schedule for next year were revealed on Oasis’ official social media ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The schedule will start in Wales, UK on July 4-5 next year, then continue for 4 days in Manchester and London, and 2 days in Edinburgh and Dublin, Ireland, before wrapping up on August 17. Ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. on the 31st.

It has been reported that a European tour is also under consideration after the six-week UK tour. If the European tour is realized, it is expected to record more than double the total sales of the UK concert. Regarding the reason why Oasis is expected to achieve such commercial success, British author Eamonn Ford explained, “Oasis has a unique position in British popular culture, comparable to the Beatles or Abba, so new fans are always coming in.”

The success of Britpop bands like Blur and Pulp, who reunited before Oasis, is also one of the factors that raises expectations for the Oasis tour. In particular, Blur, the band that led the heyday of Britpop in the 1990s with Oasis, proved its ticket power by selling out all tickets for their concert at Wembley Stadium in London last year as soon as tickets went on sale.

Some are concerned that the tour could be cut short, as happened with the Stone Roses. Oasis’ Manchester predecessor, the Stone Roses, had to cancel their reunion tour in 2013 just as it was about to begin due to discord among the members. Given the Gallagher brothers’ decades-long strained relationship, the possibility of an early cancellation of the tour cannot be ruled out.
