British police have charged a sixth Bulgarian citizen as part of an investigation into an alleged espionage case linked to Russia.

Tihomir Ivanov Ivanchev, 37, who lives in west London, was arrested on February 7 as part of an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism Command.
Police detained Ivanchev in preparation for his appearance before Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Wednesday.
Ivanchev was charged with “conspiracy to collect information intended to be directly or indirectly useful to the enemy and for a purpose that harms the safety and interests of the state.”
As part of the same investigation, five other Bulgarians were charged, and their trial is scheduled to begin next October.
The case alleges that they “conspired together and with Jan Marszalek and unknown others to obtain, collect, record, publish and transmit documents or information” to Moscow.
Marsalek is the former chief operating officer of the Austrian payments company Wirecard, and the German authorities are demanding his arrest due to allegations that he committed fraud crimes.
