Bronx Father Killed in Apparent Unprovoked Stabbing; Man Arrested

A man has been taken into custody following the fatal stabbing of a 53-year-old Bronx father, a Ghanian immigrant remembered by neighbors as a dedicated provider for his family. The incident has shaken the Melrose community and prompted an investigation into the seemingly senseless act of violence.

Sean Jones was apprehended by authorities on Tuesday afternoon and faces charges of murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of George Ennin.

Ennin was repeatedly stabbed in front of a pizzeria on Third Avenue and later succumbed to his injuries. Neighbors described him as a tireless worker who prioritized the well-being of his two daughters.

“He didn’t deserve this,” a neighbor shared at a community gathering Tuesday night. “His family don’t deserve this. His daughters don’t deserve this.”

The neighbor, who requested anonymity, recounted knowing Ennin for over a decade. She emphasized his unwavering work ethic, noting he was often absent due to his commitment to providing for his children. “He was one of those good people, he was a good person, he was good-hearted,” she said. “He didn’t bother nobody.”

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, leaving the community grappling with shock and grief. Authorities have yet to release details regarding a potential connection between Jones and Ennin.

Jones is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Wednesday. Information regarding legal representation for the suspect was not immediately available.
