Brooklyn Beckham Breaks silence on Family Feud, Accuses Parents of “Controlling” His Life and Trying to “Ruin” His Marriage
In a stunning rebuke, Brooklyn Beckham publicly detailed a long-simmering family conflict, alleging years of manipulation and attempts to undermine his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz. The 26-year-old shared a lengthy statement via Instagram Stories on Monday, claiming he felt compelled to “tell the truth about… some of the lies that have been printed” regarding his family.
brooklyn Beckham asserted he “does not want to reconcile with [his] family,” following what he describes as years of interference and negativity. He accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of having “been trying endlessly to ruin [his] relationship” with Peltz, 31, from the outset.
Beckham detailed several specific instances of alleged interference. He claimed his mother “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour” despite Peltz’s excitement about the design, leaving her scrambling to find a replacement. Moreover, he alleged his parents “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe” him into signing away the rights to his name before the wedding. A notably stinging allegation involves claims that family members told him the night before the nuptials that Peltz was “not blood” and “not family.”
The tensions reportedly extended into the wedding itself. Beckham recounted a deeply upsetting incident during the reception, confirming previous reporting that Victoria Beckham “hijacked” the newlyweds’ first dance. “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but rather my mum was waiting to dance with me,” he recalled. “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everybody. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
To attempt to reclaim the joy of their wedding day,Beckham and Peltz plan to renew their vows in August 2025,aiming to “create new memories… that bring us joy and happiness,not anxiety and embarrassment.”
Beckham also accused his parents of prioritizing “brand Beckham” over genuine family connection. He stated that “Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media,” and criticized their lack of support for causes vital to Peltz, citing an instance where his mother refused to support his wife’s efforts to aid displaced dogs during the LA fires.
He directly addressed the narrative that Peltz “controls” him, calling it “completely backward.” “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he insisted, adding that stepping away from his family has alleviated his long-standing anxiety. “For the first time in my life… that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.”
Beckham concluded by stating his and Peltz’s desire for “peace, privacy and happiness,” free from “image, press, or manipulation.”
Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The feud reportedly escalated after Brooklyn and Peltz seemingly skipped David Beckham’s 50th birthday party last may. However, Beckham claims they traveled to London intending to celebrate with his father but were “rejected” unless it was at the large, public birthday event. “[My dad] refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner,” he alleged. “When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face.”
Earlier this month, Beckham instructed his parents to communicate with him only thru lawyers, a decision reportedly made after repeated attempts to establish boundaries were ignored. Sources close to the couple have indicated that Peltz fully supports Beckham’s decisions and will continue to do so.
