Brooklyn Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of 90-Year-Old Pedestrian, Driver Flees
A tragic hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn has left a 90-year-old man dead and authorities searching for the motorcycle driver responsible. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday around 9:30 a.m., underscores the growing dangers faced by pedestrians in New York City.
Details of the Incident
The collision took place at the intersection of Avenue U and 14th Street in Brooklyn. According to reports from Univision 41, surveillance video shows the motorcycle approaching the pedestrian as the man was crossing the street with the right of way. The video, obtained by the news outlet, appears to show the motorcycle operator looking to the left instead of directly ahead when the impact occurred.
Both the pedestrian and the driver fell to the ground. The driver remained at the scene for approximately two to three minutes before fleeing, according to eyewitness accounts. The victim, identified by authorities as Chuzi, a man of Asian descent, lived just three blocks from the accident site. He was immediately transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Witness Testimony and Concerns
A local resident who frequently uses the same pedestrian crossing expressed concern over driver behavior in the area. “Sometimes cars too, they no longer respect the light,” the neighbor stated. “It seems very unfortunate. They need to be more careful.”
This incident comes just weeks after a similar tragedy in Staten Island in mid-May, where a 58-year-old man was fatally struck by a motorcycle. As of Thursday, at least 57 people have been killed in traffic incidents across New York City in 2025.
Ongoing Investigation and Call for Information
Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The public is asked to contact the city’s crime hotline with any details that may assist in the investigation. This case is considered a crime due to the driver’s failure to remain at the scene of the accident, even though the motorcycle reportedly had a green light.

The rising number of traffic fatalities in New York City demands increased vigilance from both drivers and pedestrians, and a renewed commitment to road safety.
