BTS Announces ‘Arirang’ as Title of First Album in Four Years, Plans Extensive World Tour
A new era for the global sensation is dawning: BTS has revealed “Arirang” as the title of their forthcoming studio album, marking the group’s first full-length release since 2020’s Be. The proclamation coincides with plans for a massive world tour set to launch this April and extend into 2027.
The highly-anticipated album draws its name from a beloved conventional Korean folk song, celebrated for its cultural significance both within Korea and internationally.According to a press release, the song is “long been associated with emotions of connection, distance, and reunion.” The album itself is described as “a deeply reflective body of work that explores BTS’ identity and roots.”
“Drawing on the emotional depth of ‘Arirang’-its sense of yearning, longing, and the ebb and flow of life, the band ultimately chose the title for its strong resonance with their current journey,” the release explained. The new music promises to explore “universal emotions of longing and love” and aims to create a “timeless legacy across generations and cultures.”
To build anticipation,digital billboards showcasing the album’s logo have appeared in prominent global cities,including New York,Tokyo,London,and Paris.
Album Release and Initial Teasers
Arirang is slated for release on March 20. However, the group subtly hinted at their return much earlier, sending handwritten notes to select fans celebrating the New Year. These messages contained a cryptic reference to March 20,2026,sparking speculation among the devoted ARMY fanbase.
Individual members shared their excitement in these personal notes. “We’ve waited more earnestly than anyone else,” wrote RM. Jimin added,”The year we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived,” while V expressed optimism for the future,stating,”In 2026,we’ll make even more good memories,so look forward to it!”
Return to the Studio and Global Tour
BTS has been diligently working together in the studio as July,committed to creating an album that “reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas.” A statement released last year revealed the group’s intention to approach the project with the same creative spirit that defined their early work.
The album will be supported by an extensive world tour, kicking off on April 9 in Goyang, South Korea.The tour is currently scheduled to run through March 2027, with additional dates expected to be announced. The initial leg includes stops in major cities across asia, North and South America, and Europe, including Tokyo, Mexico City, Las Vegas, Busan, London, Paris, Chicago, Toronto, East Rutherford, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Manila. The band intends to perform multiple nights in each city to maximize engagement with their global audience.
