Usually, when discussing the parliamentary examination of the budget, it is the metaphor of the marathon that is required. A way of recalling the long hours of debate necessary for deputies to achieve, sometimes, at the end of their effort, the vote on an amendment.

Last Thursday, Eric Dupond-Moretti came without shorts or running shoes into the chamber for the examination of justice credits. The Minister of Justice looks more like a rugby player – and the third-half language to match. After a new LFI amendment calling for the creation of 20,000 clerks by 2027 – against 1,800 planned – the sanguine lawyer ended up exploding: “The budget is not a sausage fair!
