Chattanooga Track & Field Splits Squad for Weekend Competition at Bulldog Invite and Music City Challenge

The Chattanooga women’s indoor track and field team is gearing up for a busy weekend, dividing its athletes between the Samford Bulldog Invite in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday. This split competition marks the close of the Mocs’ regular season before they prepare for the Southern Conference Championships later this month.

Bulldog Invite Set to Showcase Mocs’ Versatility

The majority of the Chattanooga team will compete at the Samford Bulldog Invite, held at the CrossPlex – a premier indoor track venue in the region. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time with the 5,000 meters, featuring Scarlett Nash and Aubrey Park. The Mocs will quickly return to the track for the mile at 1:30 p.m., with Bella King and Ellie von Herrmann competing in the first heat, followed by Lauren Bayes, Maya McCloskey, Anna Roberson, and Olivia Steele in the second.

Sprinters will take to the track at 2:05 p.m. for the 400 meters, with Ava McGue leading the charge, followed by Aalvinee Torrance. Taylor Crawford will then compete in the 800 meters at 2:55 p.m. The afternoon continues with the 200 meters at 3:15 p.m., featuring Torrance, Norah Haney, and McGue. The team will conclude their track events with the 4×400-meter relay at 4:35 p.m., fielding a squad comprised of Kolbee Webb, Haney, Crawford, and McGue.

Field events will also be a key focus at the Bulldog Invite. Haney will kick off long jump competition at noon, joined by Stella Henry and McGue in the second flight. Hall Carden, recently named the SoCon Athlete of the Week after breaking the Mocs record in the high jump at the UAB Green & Gold Invite, will compete in the high jump at 2:00 p.m. and return for the triple jump at 3:30 p.m. Live scoring for the Samford Bulldog Invite will be available at GoMocs.com.

Wheatcroft Headlines Music City Challenge Contingent

While a large contingent heads to Birmingham, a select group of Mocs will travel to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge. Competition there begins at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time with Ryleigh Simmons racing in the 60 meters. The Mocs will then focus on the mile, with Maddie Wheatcroft competing in the first heat at 6:45 p.m., followed by Audrey Wade and Leah Boyd Mitchell in later heats.

The evening culminates with the 5,000 meters at 8:30 p.m., featuring Andrea Ellis, Lola Baker, and Emma Thweatt. The Music City Challenge is known for its seeded sections and consistently produces strong mid-season distance times on Vanderbilt’s fast indoor oval. A live broadcast of the event, along with live scoring, will be available on GoMocs.com.

This weekend represents the final opportunity for the Chattanooga Mocs to fine-tune their performances before the Southern Conference Championships in Lexington, Virginia, at the end of the month.
