Fresno State Dominates Miami (Ohio) 18-3 in 2025 Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl

TUCSON, Ariz. – Fresno State concluded its 2025 season in triumphant fashion, defeating Miami (Ohio) 18-3 in the 2025 Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl, Presented by Ginn & Juice by Dre & Snoop. The decisive victory marks a historic moment for the Bulldogs, as head coach Matt Entz became only the second in program history to secure a bowl game win in his inaugural season.

the Bulldogs finished the year with an impressive 9-4 overall record, capping off a season of significant growth and achievement. EJ Wriet, the Fresno State quarterback, was rightfully named the bowl game MVP, delivering a stellar performance with 219 passing yards, completing 15 of 22 pass attempts for one touchdown and, crucially, zero turnovers.

The foundation of Fresno State’s success lay in its suffocating defense. Holding Miami to a mere 192 yards of total offense, the Bulldogs consistently disrupted the RedHawks’ rhythm and forced two critical turnovers – an interception by Jakari embry and a fumble recovery, also by Embry. This defensive prowess proved pivotal in controlling the game’s tempo and ultimately securing the win.

Offensively, Josiah freeman emerged as a key target, leading the receiving corps with a career-best 143 yards on seven catches, marking his first-ever 100-yard receiving game. Dylan Lynch proved reliable with four successful field goals, while Richie Anderson III secured the Bulldogs’ lone touchdown of the day.

Miami (Ohio) drew first blood, converting a 33-yard field goal on their opening possession. Though, the Bulldog defense quickly responded, with embry’s interception halting the RedHawks’ momentum. Despite the early turnover,Fresno State struggled to capitalize, ending the first quarter trailing 3-0.

The second quarter saw Fresno State ignite its offense. A 25-yard connection between Write and Anderson III propelled the Bulldogs into Miami territory. A series of five consecutive runs for gain, followed by an 11-yard completion to Freeman, brought them within striking distance. Lynch then connected on a 28-yard field goal, tying the game early in the second quarter.

Momentum continued to swing in Fresno State’s favor as the defense forced a three-and-out. A chaotic special teams play followed, with a botched snap to the Miami punter sending the ball careening toward the end zone. Ethan Tierney blocked the ensuing punt, and Johnathan Arceneaux recovered the ball at the Miami 10-yard line. Although unable to reach the end zone, Lynch added another three points with a 23-yard field goal, giving Fresno State a 6-3 lead heading into halftime.

The third quarter saw a promising drive from the Bulldogs, highlighted by a 51-yard pass from Write to Freeman. However, the drive stalled in the red zone, and Lynch’s subsequent field goal attempt sailed wide left, marking his first miss of the afternoon.

Entering the fourth quarter tied at mid-field, Write connected with Harold Duvall for a 17-yard gain. The Bulldogs once again advanced to the red zone, this time finding the end zone on a two-yard pass from Write to Anderson III. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving Fresno State with a 15-3 lead with 11:12 remaining.

Miami attempted to mount a comeback, driving into Bulldog territory, but the Fresno State defense stood firm.Jahzon Jacks sealed the deal with a crucial sack on fourth down, forcing a turnover on downs and extinguishing Miami’s offensive threat.

in the closing minutes, Fresno State methodically ran down the clock with nine consecutive rushing attempts. Lynch punctuated the drive with a 37-yard field goal, extending the lead to the final score of 18-3 with just under three minutes left on the clock. The Bulldogs’ dominant performance solidified their position as a force to be reckoned with, ending the season on a high note and setting the stage for continued success.
