‘Bus route rationalization committee working to bring order in public transport’

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) administrator Dr. Mah. Sher Ali said that the bus route rationalization committee is working to ensure orderly passenger transport in Dhaka city’s public transport.

He said this at a function at Buriganga Hall, Nagar Bhavan, the head office of DSCC on Thursday (September 12) afternoon.

Dr. Sher Ali said, we hope that there will not be any problem in the transportation of vehicles in Dhaka city. We are moving towards creating a beautiful Bangladesh and new expectations. We do not want to give preferential treatment to any type of bus in any place. We are giving importance to orderly passenger transport for all and the committee is working towards that goal.

The president of the committee said the current reality and future initiatives to bring discipline in public transport. Sher Ali said, we have reviewed the implementation progress of previous decisions. Many of them have been implemented, some decisions are under implementation. Moreover, what other decisions can be implemented have been discussed. All concerned showed positive attitude.

He said that the population density in Dhaka metropolis is much higher than in other countries. We are discussing and working on how vehicles can be managed efficiently in a city with such a dense population in such a small space. The committee members gave their sincere opinion. Everyone is working from their place to implement the decision.

Under the supervision of member secretary of bus route rationalization committee and executive director of Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority Neelima Akhtar, administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation. Mahmudul Hasan, director of BRTC on behalf of the chairman Colonel Md. Mubarak Hossain Majumdar, chief city planner on behalf of the chairman of Rajuk. Ashraful Islam, Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Sufian Ahmed on behalf of DMP Commissioner, Deputy Director Swadesh Kumar Das on behalf of BRTA Chairman, Superintending Engineer of North City Corporation Khandkar Mahbub Alam, Public Transport Expert. SM Saleh Uddin, Zahid Al Latif on behalf of the President of Dhaka Transport Owners Association and Syed Rezaul Karim on behalf of the General Secretary were present.
