Our favorite series and films are becoming more expensive. Netflix is increasing its prices – hefty!

The streaming provider Netflix only increased its prices for new customers in mid-April. Now those who already have a subscription also have to pay more.

For the next billing period, the price for the premium offer will increase from 17.99 euros to 19.99 euros. The standard subscription then costs 13.99 euros (previously 12.99 euros).

The “Basic” subscription (only available to existing customers anyway) now costs 9.99 euros instead of 7.99 euros.

However, customers who have subscribed to Netflix with advertising can breathe a sigh of relief. You still pay 4.99 euros per month.

Netflix is currently asking those affected by email for a declaration of consent. Anyone who rejects the new price will automatically lose their subscription.

Attention: Netflix is not allowed to change the subscription unilaterally. The Berlin Court of Appeal confirmed this last fall. Price adjustment clauses for “unilateral price increases” are therefore ineffective.

In Germany, Netflix last changed its prices in 2021. Back then, too, the costs for the standard subscription rose by one euro and for the premium subscription by two euros. Since then, Netflix has made sharing accounts more difficult – by charging extra costs.

Nevertheless, users remained loyal to the streaming service. Netflix continued to report increasing customer numbers.
