At the politician derblecken on the Nockherberg, the cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth takes on the assembled political celebrities. This time he’s targeting two in particular.

At the traditional politician derblecken at Munich’s Nockherberg, cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth made biting criticism of the increasing intensity of political disputes. On Wednesday evening he particularly targeted the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and even more so his deputy Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters).

“A spiral of verbal armament is what you have delivered over the last twelve months,” criticized Schafroth in his Lenten speech to numerous top politicians from Bavaria and the federal government. Söder and Aiwanger became real “ramp pigs”, especially in the beer tent, according to the motto: “Let’s push democracy to its limits like the old diesel on the Reschen Pass. (…) Away from the boring facts. Toward emotion.”

“Split wood is better for lighting”

At school we are taught to be polite. And then Aiwanger spoke so blatantly that one had to say: “You have a verbal mess together.” Aiwanger had mutated into “a political wood splitter,” said Schafroth. “Because foresters and log burners know: split wood is better for lighting.” But even with Söder’s tone on Ash Wednesday with Honecker and dog comparisons, you have to ask yourself: “Who else is stopping you?”

“The question is: Do we want that? How does that affect our coexistence?” Schafroth spoke to the conscience of the Prime Minister and his deputy. “Do we want to use fumes, do we want to arm ourselves verbally, or do we disarm now?” The two of them had it in their hands.

After the Lenten speech, the Singspiel is on the program, in which politicians are doubled by actors. In all of this, being derbleckt – i.e. parodied and mocked – at the Nockherberg is ultimately considered a privilege. The “worst thing” for top politicians is not being mentioned at all.
