Either Maria Gabriel goes with a full folder of ministers already for the handing over of the mandate, or we all go to the polls, announced Boyko Borisov
First, President Rumen Radev will take a look at Maria Gabriel’s file when he proceeds to hand her the government mandate at 12:00 on Monday. Either it will be full of names of ministers or elections.
This was announced by the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, and thus abruptly “cut off” another week of negotiations on the composition of the government. The Constitution gives a week after the delivery of the exploratory mandate for the list to be drawn up. Borisov, however – clearly not.
On Monday, we will either go to President Rumen Radev with a ready folder from the negotiations, or it will be known directly that we are going to new electionshe said today from Plovdiv.
In recent days, there has been a lull in the negotiations, unofficially it has become clear that GERB are moving towards negotiating 6 ministerial seats, including the one for the Foreign Ministry, which Gabriel will combine with the Prime Minister’s. But there have also been reports of fierce disputes over both the names and portfolios of ministers and the contracting of regulatory posts.
Now the two formations in the (non)coalition, which have not yet said whether they will become a real coalition by signing any agreement, have only two days to decide.
If it doesn’t happen by Monday and Gabriel doesn’t go with a ready file on “Dondukov” 2, the negotiations are over, Borisov was firm. Academician Nikolay Denkov confirmed that there will definitely not be a cabinet with the second mandate – that of PP-DB.
Borisov of the PP-DB was visibly annoyed that they did not protect the secret of the negotiations well and leaked names.
Otherwise, the official negotiating teams avoid the media, the leaders say nothing, and the press centers assure that they have no information. Even in their meetings, politicians are without phones.
It does them no honor to colleagues through their casion media to release part of the negotiationscommented Borisov and added: We honor the commitment until everything is agreed, nothing is agreed and no comment is made.
Negotiations literally until the last minute are not a precedent. Kiril Petkov did the same in 2021, when “Change” governs with DB, BSP and ITN in the first quadruple coalition.
If they end successfully, then as early as Wednesday – March 20, the new government headed by Maria Gabriel can be voted in the parliament.
If Maria Gabriel can work with Tagarev, I will vote for him. If she can’t, that’s her business. She will be prime minister and must clearly imagine what is happening with the Council of Ministers, with its management, with foreign ministers – it is her job, Borisov was laconic on one of the topics of tension – whether the Minister of Defense remains. If Gabriel manages to reshuffle the cabinet, GERB will give her its 69 parliamentary votes, he guarantees.
The days of mourning, which postponed the handing over of the mandate from Friday to Monday, allow for the unusual decision – three more days of negotiations, but with a final result, rather than another week of wringing hands.
The mourning today did not affect the work in the parliament. Not a single group dedicated a declaration to the late patriarch, since the morning the deputies were insulting each other.
There was a disagreement in the majority when GERB and DPS passed the first reading of the changes with which the Ministry of Interior takes over the security of the refugee centers. The changes were introduced by Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski, this time without inviting Kiril Petkov, and the arguments between the formations lasted for three hours.
