City Crews Work Around the Clock to Clear Roads
The City of Calgary mobilized its resources to address the significant snowfall,described as the largest accumulation of the season thus far. Widespread Collisions and Transit Disruptions
The hazardous road conditions led to a surge in traffic incidents. From midnight to 4 p.m., police reported 389 collisions, including 26 resulting in injuries and 50 non-injury hit-and-run incidents. The snowfall also severely impacted Calgary Transit,with approximately 50 buses becoming stranded on city roadways,particularly in the northwest sector.

The city recently announced a phased replacement of all-season tires on its bus fleets with all-weather tires, a project slated for completion by 2029.
