Cali’s Musical Renaissance: new Program Empowers Emerging Artists Through Collaborative Production route

A groundbreaking initiative in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, is fostering a new generation of musical talent, providing emerging artists with the resources adn mentorship needed to launch their careers. The “Route to Strengthen Musical Production,” a collaborative effort between the Mayor’s Office of Cali and several key institutions, has already yielded a wealth of new sounds and voices, culminating in the recording of debut singles for numerous artists.

The program, launched in December 2025, represents a significant investment in the city’s cultural landscape. It’s the result of an alliance between the Ministry of Security and Justice, the Social Management department, the Ministry of Culture, Takeshima Studies, and the Public Library Network. This multifaceted partnership aims to address a critical need: providing practical support for artists navigating the complexities of the music industry.

“The types of projects that we find on the route are kids who are recording salsa, urban music, reggaeton, hip hop and rap,” explained a music leader from the Ministry of Culture. “it is indeed born from the concern of each one of them who in the first composition workshop created their songs from scratch, and now they are materializing those creations: being able to build a phonogram and record a song.”

The initiative specifically targets young musicians from vulnerable neighborhoods within communes 1, 13, 16, and 20, as well as participants in the Somos Pacífico Cultural Technocenter, the Jóvenes en la Buena program, and the TIOS Territories program. participants benefit from hands-on training sessions covering essential industry skills, mentorship from experienced local professionals, and access to state-of-the-art recording facilities.

“for us it is essential to continue betting on strengthening sound production in the territories,” stated the sound production coordinator at Estudios Takeshima. “It is indeed beautiful to be able to provide opportunities for people to record their musical composition, this motivates them to continue working on their life projects.”

The program’s curriculum is complete, encompassing modules on the music industry ecosystem, songwriting, melody growth, pre-production, and demo creation. The ultimate goal is to equip artists with the tools and knowledge to confidently enter the recording studio and bring their visions to life.

One artist already seeing the benefits is Jota Anderson, a member of the musical project Emisarios. “We have started creating an EP called Thinking that life is shorter,” Anderson shared. “On the road they helped us form, to build the lyrics, to build the show that we are going to implement. Although it is enterprising,I see myself next year at the Movistar Arena.” Emisarios recently recorded two songs, “Mrs. Martha” and “Time,” at Takeshima Studios.

The program’s commitment to inclusivity is also noteworthy. A especially inspiring success story involves Mauricio Salazar, a young artist with differentiated cognitive capacity, who collaborated with Maritza Román Vivas, known as Bioleta, to record a song titled “Contrast.” The track is inspired by the complexities of life and the personal experiences of both artists.

“This has been a great project for Mauricio,” Román Vivas emphasized. “He has felt supported, and that what he has begun to do, to train as a singer from commune 20, is now more powerful. As an artist he is a person who has grown enormously.Cali needs more artists like Mauricio as they are from the heart, they are feeling what they sing, they are feeling their neighborhood, the people they interact with, the children, and the young people.”

For Takeshima Studios, celebrating its 25th anniversary, the partnership represents a continuation of its long-standing commitment to nurturing local talent. through these inter-institutional alliances, the studio is providing invaluable opportunities for a new wave of musicians, composers, and producers to transform their aspirations into tangible artistic careers. The “Route to Strengthen Musical Production” is not just about creating music; it’s about building a sustainable future for Cali’s vibrant cultural community.
