Ukraine Under Intense Overnight Attack: Kinzhal Missiles, Drones, and Ballistic Strikes Reported

A massive Russian aerial assault targeted Ukraine overnight on november 13-14, employing a diverse arsenal of weaponry including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Shahed drones, and Kalibr cruise missiles, prompting nationwide air raid alerts and reported explosions in the Kyiv region.

Escalation of Attacks and Emerging Threats

After midnight on november 14, air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine as Russia deployed several MiG-31K aircraft, known carriers of the Kinzhal missiles. This followed an earlier wave of attacks utilizing Shahed kamikaze drones and sea-launched Kalibr missiles. Later in the night, the use of ballistic missiles was also reported, substantially escalating the threat level.

According to monitoring channels, the presence of the MiG-31K aircraft on a potential combat mission was frist detected around 00:25. By 00:33, reports indicated at least four such aircraft were airborne. Authorities urged citizens to seek shelter and remain there until the all-clear signal.

Timeline of the Overnight Assault

The initial wave of attacks began on the evening of November 13, with the first Shahed drones recorded over Ukrainian territory after 17:15.Throughout the night, numerous groups of drones continued to penetrate Ukrainian airspace, with estimates reaching over 100 drones by 00:25.

Shortly after midnight, at approximately 00:15, intelligence indicated the launch of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea. roughly 15 minutes later, Russia activated the MiG-31K aircraft, carrying the Kh-47m2 Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, posing a threat to all regions of the country.

Explosions were reported in the Kyiv region around 00:40, initially attributed to aeroballistics. Monitoring sources suggested the Kinzhal missiles were launched in pairs, with a total of four deployed. Further warnings emerged at 00:55 regarding potential launches of Iskander missiles, S-300/S-400 systems, and similar ballistic weapons. Subsequent explosions were again reported in the Kyiv region, confirming the impact of these strikes.

The Kalibr cruise missiles, initially headed towards the Zhitomir region, were reportedly redirected towards Kyiv and the surrounding areas.A significant number of enemy UAVs also attempted to breach the capital’s defenses.

At 01:26, the Kyiv region faced renewed threats of ballistic shelling, with reports indicating missiles were en route to the capital. By 01:40, the all-clear had been sounded in western regions, though the situation remained volatile.

Sustained Attacks and Ukrainian Defense

A senior official stated that Ukraine has endured “regular terrorist attacks by Russian occupation forces for four years now, using missiles, bombs, kamikaze drones and other means of destruction.” The official further emphasized that Russia is “experimenting with terror against the rear of Ukraine in the literal sense of the word – testing new methods of genocide.”

According to reports from OBOZ.UA, the Russian military launched 139 Shahed attack drones and various types of simulator drones on November 13. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed 102 of these UAVs.
